Arrogate Crowned Worlds' Best

Wednesday, 25th January 2017

Arrogate has been crowned the 2016 Longines World's Best Racehorse at a ceremony at the iconic hotel Claridges in London overnight. The star US colt finished the year with a rating of 134. Compatriot California Chrome was rated second at 133, while champion Australian mare Winx took third place with a rating of 132. On the same day, the 2016 Longines World’s Best Horse Race award was given to the Breeders’ Cup Classic with a rating of 125.25. Arrogate's trainer Bob Baffert said the 3YO could be even better in 2017. "We always knew Arrogate was going to be something special but he arrived late at the party, then progressed rapidly and bloomed at the right time," Baffert told Blood Horse. "He's going to get better too, as they all get better as they get older. He's just a superior racehorse."
