Music Magnate Primed For Return

Wednesday, 25th January 2017

Trainer Bjorn Baker has declared top sprinter Music Magnate (Written Tycoon-Concert Girl, by Danehill Dancer) in top shape ahead of his return in Saturday's $200,000 Gr2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens. The Doomben 10,000 winner, who missed the spring after spiking a fever, hasn't raced since finishing at the tail of the field in the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap on 11 June. "He is really well. He's had two good trials and is moving better than ever," Baker told Racing NSW. "He's had a good break to get over a virus in the spring. His coat is in good order." Feature races such as the $2.5 million Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 1 April, and the $600,000 Gr1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) on 15 April are logical targets, but Baker says he is keeping all options on the table. "We'll see how he comes through [Saturday]," Baker said. "We're thinking about a little freshen up or Melbourne or even the Apollo. Brisbane is in the back of my mind too so we'll have a bit of a think about it."
