Newhaven Park To Stand Champion Xtravagant

Friday, 27th January 2017

In a coup for the Australian breeding industry, Newhaven Park has announced that the NSW stud farm has secured Champion New Zealand 3YO Xtravagant (Pentire-Axiom) for stud duties. A sensational 8-length debut winner at his only start at two, as a 3YO Xtravagant won the Gr1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas by 8.5-lengths in race record time before beating older horses in the Gr1 Waikato Sprint, again by an extraordinary margin of 8-lengths. “He was a breathtaking racehorse with phenomenal speed… his record victories in the Guineas and the Waikato Sprint against older horses (beating five individual Gr1 winners) were unbelievable.” A full-brother to multiple Gr1-placed placed Gr3 winner He’s Remarkable and a half-brother to boom 3YO Axiomatic from the immediate family of Gr1 winner Sixty Seconds, Te Akau Racing’s Xtravagant will stand for a fee of $16,500.
