Monday, 30th January 2017

At Trentham in New Zealand on Saturday, 4-time Gr1-winning NZ Windsor Park shuttler & former European Champion 2YO Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) celebrated an elite success when 5YO mare Thee Auld Floozie (Mastercraftsman-Thee Auld Hussie, by Spinning World) scored by 1.5 lengths for trainer Stephen Marsh in the NZ$200,000 Gr1 Thorndon Mile (1600m) for 3YO+, over 6YO gelding Prince Of Passion (Castledale-Hidden Passion, by Desert Prince) & 7YO mare Abidewithme (Redoute's Choice-Crimson, by Zabeel). Thee Auld Floozie, who is out of the Spinning World mare Thee Auld Hussie, winner of the Listed Manawatu Breeders' Stakes (2000m) and Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup (1600m), improved her record to 9 wins (including the Gr3 Sunline Vase & Listed J Swap Contractors 1400) and 7 placings (including the Gr3 Manawatu Breeders' Stakes) from 27 starts for NZ$365,460 earnings. "She's been rock solid and even her last campaign she was the same. She's just coming right as she's a high class mare," trainer Stephen Marsh told NZ Racing Desk. Marsh was also quick to pay tribute to one of the couples involved in the mare's ownership. "She really deserved her Group One," he said. "It's great for John and Sue Young who have been great supporters of mine since back in our Woodville days." He added: "They bred her so I'm just so pleased for them."
