Tivaci Wins Listed Kensington Stakes

Monday, 30th January 2017

At Flemington in Melbourne, Coolmore's deceased dual Derby-winning shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Dashaan) added a black-type success when 4YO entire Tivaci (High Chaparral-Breccia, by Fastnet Rock) resumed with a fast-finishing 0.2 length win for trainer Mike Moroney in the $120,000 Listed Kensington Stakes (1000m) for 3YO+, over 3YO colt El Divino (Snitzel-Vegas Showgirl, by Al Akbar) & fellow 4YO entire Hellbent (I Am Invincible-Volkaspray, by Volksraad). Carrying the same distinctive lime green silks as former star mare Lucia Valentina on behalf of owner Lib Petagna, Tivaci improved his record to 5 wins (including the Gr3 Sunshine Coast Guineas & Gr3 CS Hayes Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Toorak Handicap & Gr1 Cantala Stakes) from 18 starts for $495,500 earnings. Tivaci, who hails from the family of Gr1 Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder and is a direct descendant of Melbourne Cup winning mare Rainbird (7th dam), was a NZ$250,000 purchase by Paul Moroney Bloodstock at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Princes Farm. The Gr1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 11 February is shaping as Tivaci's next start, ahead of the $1.25 million Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on 11 March.
