$800K For Filly From Eight Carat Family
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum secured the second highest-priced Lot at yesterday's opening session of the NZ Bloodstock Premier yearling Sale at Karaka. Lot 130 was the High Chaparral filly from stakes winning filly Diamond Like (Danehill x Tristalove) hailing from Cambridge Stud’s famous Eight Carat family and was knocked down to the Sheikh’s racing manager Tim Stakemire for $800,000. “We have been trying for 10 to 15 years to get into this family and they don’t come on the market very often," Stakemire said. “It was well-documented that Sir Patrick was selling exclusively here and not holding anything back and we are happy to be supporting the Sale.” He added: "She’s got a fantastic pedigree, a lovely body and is a real athlete.” The filly is a full sister to Gr2 VRC Blazer Stakes winner Forever Loved and a half-sister to Gr3 winner Zephyron. The filly's fourth dam is the legendary broodmare Eight Carat, dam of champion galloper Octagonal, his freakishly talented brother Mouawad, and fellow Gr1 winners Kaapstad, Diamond Lover and Marquise. Other esteemed family members include Viscount, Tristalove, Shower Of Roses, Viking Ruler and Don Eduardo, Deep Field and Shooting To Win.
