Oaks Day Stakes Race Schedule

Headlined by the $1 million Gr1 VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington, there are six stakes races across Australia today. First run in 1861, the VRC Oaks has been won by some wonderful fillies, including champions Light Fingers (1964), Denise's Joy (1975), Surround (1976), Rose Of Kingston (1981), Spirit Of Kingston (1984), Research (1988), Tristanagh (1989), Slight Chance (1992), Grand Archway (1998), Serenade Rose (2005), Miss Finland (2006), Samantha Miss (2008), Mosheen (2011), and Jameka (2015). This year, the Aaron Purcell-trained Aloisia represents the class in the race and is a dominant $1.60 favourite with TAB. Next best in the market is the Gai Waterhouse-trained Pinot at $6.50, and the John Sargent filly Luvaluva at $7.50. All other runners are at double figure odds.
