Oratorio Returns to Duty

Wednesday, 15th November 2017

Former Coolmore shuttler and now South African-based sire Oratorio (Danehill-Mahrah, by Vaguely Noble) has recovered from a bout of laminitis and has returned to stud duties, reports Racing Post. The three-time Gr1 winner, who has sired seven Group 1 winners, stands at Avontuur Stud in South Africa. “The shock of his illness is now behind us and we are all pleased that the big guy is on the road to recovery - although he is confined to his box when not working and he is on a restricted diet,” said Pippa Mickleburgh, general manager at Avontuur. “We are not putting him under any pressure. He covered Minelli - Val De Ra's dam - yesterday and is due to visit A Daughter's Legacy - dam of Classic contender Ancestry - tomorrow.” Among Oratorio’s best progeny are 4-time Gr1 winner and Hong Kong Horse of the Year Military Attack, Gr1 Golden Rose winner Manawanui, and Gr1 Underwood Stakes winner Mourinho.
