Valuable Filly Ready for Valley Debut
Trainer Tony McEvoy will unveil valuable 2YO Al Naifa at Moonee Valley tonight. Purchased by Tim Stakemire on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum for $1.8 million at this year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Newhaven Park, Al Naifa is by Redoute's Choice out of Court (Anabaa) and is a half-sister to classy sprinter and Gr1 All Aged Stakes winner English. It is also the family of dual Group 1 winner and successful sire Grand Lodge. Foreman Michael Shepherdson said the stable was expecting a forward showing from Al Naifa when she debuts in the CRT/Whites Rural Plate over 1000m. "She's a high-priced yearling that's been well-educated and we've been really excited to have her in the stable," Shepherdson told racing.com. "She's had a jump-out at Flemington and two trials at Cranbourne. In the first one she showed quite a lot of speed and natural talent so in the second trial we wanted to bring her in behind to teach her to switch off and she did that before circling them to win the trial." He added: "She's banging the door down to go to the races and we've drawn a nice barrier so she should get the run of the race."
