Riverbank Agistment's beautifully-bred and performed stallion Skilled (Commands-Dextrous, by Quest For Fame) sired his first stakes-winner last Thursday at Gosford, north of Sydney, when 4YO mare Pecans (Skilled-Walnut, by Procol Harum) scored by 0.2-lengths for trainer Joe Pride in the $148,000 Gr3 Belle of the Turf (1600m). Runner-up was 4YO mare Sedanzer (Sebring-Voltdanze, by Danzero) ahead of 5YO mare Positive Problems (Sebring-Dream'n'Believe, by Shamardal). The victory took Pecans' promising record to 4 wins and 5 second placings from just 14 starts for $185,765 earnings. Her Gr1 Champagne Stakes-winning sire Skilled, also runner-up in the Gr1 Sires Produce Stakes in Sydney, is one of three top-class siblings out of multiple group-winner Dextrous. The others include Australian Champion 2YO Colt and Gr1 Golden Slipper runner-up Sidestep (standing at Darley), as well as Gr1-placed Gr2 winner Ambidexter. Skilled stood the 2017 season at a bargain fee of $3,300.
