Aloisia Pleases in Jump-Out

Wednesday, 24th January 2018

Meanwhile, top-class filly Aloisia continued her build-up to the autumn finishing fifth in an 800m jump-out at Caulfield yesterday. Aloisia is set to open her autumn campaign in the Gr3 The Vanity (1200m) at Flemington on 17 February. "She trialled very nicely. She had a quiet trial and will go to Cranbourne for a trial on Monday week when we will have a bit more of a go there," David Eustace, assistant to trainer Aaron Purcell, told ANZ Bloodstock News. "She looks in great order and is carrying good condition for a small filly. She is very straightforward and she will kick off in the Vanity over 1400 metres for three-year-old fillies." Eustace added: "She will go to the Australian Guineas and then we will have another crack at the Oaks with her in Sydney." The New Zealand-bred Aloisia (Azamour) established herself as one of the best fillies in the country in the spring, winning the Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield followed by an explosive win in the Gr2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley, before failing as favourite in the Gr1 VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington.
