Wednesday, 24th January 2018

The number of foals born in Britain and Ireland increased for the fifth consecutive year last season, reports Racing Post. According to the final figures for the 2017 breeding season published in the Supplement to the Return of Mares by Weatherbys on Monday, the total number of foals born in Britain and Ireland was 14,468, an increase of 3% on 2016. However, the figure is still well below pre-GFC (Global Financial Crisis) levels when 5,920 foals were born in Britain and 12,419 in Ireland, for a total of 18,339.
