Brave Smash Ready for Valley

Thursday, 25th January 2018

Trainer Darren Weir says he is looking forward to seeing Japanese-bred sprinter Brave Smash open his autumn campaign in the Gr2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley tomorrow night. Weir is confident that the best is yet to come from Brave Smash (Tosen Phantom-Tosen Smash, by Tokai Teio) who was last seen finishing an unlucky third behind Redzel in $10 million The Everest (1200m) in October. "Brave Smash will kick off at The Valley on Friday," Weir told racing.com yesterday. "We are hoping for big things with him this preparation but we are mindful that he has bigger things in store down the track." Weir added: "He's just as good this time in as he was at the same stage last preparation, except that he is better in the coat and better in his action this time so hopefully he can go on with the job." Owners Australian Bloodstock are hopeful that Brave Smash can claim a win at the highest level in the autumn and secure his future at stud.
