Break For Hiflyer

Thursday, 25th January 2018

Talented Kiwi galloper Hiflyer (Tavistock-Lady Firebird, by Stravinsky) has been sent for a spell following his third place finish in last weekend's Gr1 Thorndon Mile at Trentham, reports NZ Racing Desk. "He’s been very, very good to me and the owners so we’ve decided to give him a nice spell and he’ll come back bigger and stronger," trainer Peter Lock said. "We’ve got to look after him. He’s still a little bit immature. He’s been raced sparingly and puts in 110 per cent every time." Lock has previously stated that the Hiflyer is the most gifted horse he has ever trained, and believes he possesses the talent to one day win at the highest level. Bred and part-owned by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Hiflyer is by Cambridge Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Tavistock (Montjeu) and hails from the outstanding female family of champion Australian racehorse Might And Power and 4-time Gr1 winning filly Mosheen.
