NZB Karaka Day-1: $500K for More Than Ready Colt
Byerley Park-based training duo Bruce Wallace and Allan Peard secured the equal top seller on day one of the 2018 NZB National Yearling Sales Series at Karaka last night when securing a colt by More Than Ready for $500,000 from the Haunui Farm draft. From the Redoute's Choice mare Buckling (Lot 84), the colt is a half-brother to Gr2 winner Ego and is a direct descendant of celebrated blue hen Denise's Joy. "We saw him during the parades out here and really liked the look of him. He is a big raw-boned type who has a lot of scope about him and a great pedigree," said Peard. "We’ve bought him for a Hong Kong client who has raced a number of horses with us. It was a tough battle and I thought we had him $100,000 earlier than his final price." Peard added: "He looks like a sprinting type although you can never tell at this early age. He has a pedigree that could make him a stallion with the right racetrack performance but you just never know."
