NZB Karaka Day-1: $500K For Werther Sister
Bloodstock agent Dean Hawthorne secured the equal top seller on day one of the 2018 NZB National Yearling Sales Series at Karaka last night when paying $500,000 for a full sister to Hong Kong Horse of the Year Werther and Gr3 winner Gobstopper. Consigned by Highden Park as Lot 48, the filly is out of the good producing Zabeel mare Bagalollies. The plan is for the filly to remain in New Zealand for six months before heading to Australia where her owners are based. "She’s athletic, neat, and a good Tavistock filly," said Hawthorne. "We love the pedigree and what the mares do. We have seen some nice fillies in this Sale and there are some nice Tavistock’s still to come." Hawthorne added: "The stayers in New Zealand are the best in the southern hemisphere."
