Gr1 Target for Rich Charm

Wednesday, 31st January 2018

Talented Victorian sprinter Rich Charm (Danerich-Charmly, by Kingston Mill) continued his build-up to the autumn with a pleasing jump-out at Cranbourne yesterday, reports racing.com. Trainer Udyta Clarke was delighted with the performance of Rich Charm who worked to the line stylishly to finish second to smart sprinter Supido over 800 metres. "I'm very happy with him and he pulled up great," Clarke said. "We've taught him to sit and relax in the run now and he doesn't go until he's asked to." Clarke added: "He [jockey Patrick Moloney] pushed him out in the last 50 metres of the trial but he's generally a lot more competitive when he gets to his races." Clarke confirmed that Rich Charm will resume in the Gr2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on 10 February with his primary target being the $1.25 million Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on 10 March. The 5YO showed he was ready to progress to the highest level when rounding out his spring campaign with an impressive win in the Gr2 TAB Multiplier Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.
