Shadwell Filly Diamond Bound

Wednesday, 31st January 2018

Co-trainer Ben Hayes remains hopeful that well-bred filly Nasaayim can make the cut for next month's Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes after opening her account at Ballarat yesterday. Nasaayim, who was purchased by Shadwell Australasia for $650,000 at last year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, improved her record to 1 win from 2 starts when sprinting clear for a dominant win in the City of Ballarat 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1200 metres. Hayes rated Nasaayim right up there with the best 2YOs in the Lindsay Park stable, which includes Blue Diamond Preview winner Long Leaf. "We've always had a big opinion of her. She's definitely up there with our best ones," Hayes told racing.com. "And after today's win I'm hoping she does get into the Diamond because she was quite impressive." The $1.5 million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs will be run at Caulfield on 24 February.
