Records Smashed At MM Perth Sale
Records tumbled across the board yesterday as Book One of the 2018 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale produced the best day's trade in the history of the event. Three yearlings sold for $200,000 or more and 28 sold for six figures during a record trading day. Unprecedented interest in the new format of the sale led to a new record price for a day’s selling in Perth as well as a record median and what is understood to be an Australian record clearance for a major yearling sale. Over 94% of all lots offered on the day were sold returning a gross of over $8.35 million and average price of $64,258. The median price was $50,000. The top seller on the day was Lot 19, the Not a Single Doubt x All Friared Up colt from Dawson Stud who was purchased by Victoria Peak Bloodstock from Queensland for $210,000. "It was an amazing day," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "The positivity around the grounds before the sale was phenomenal and I’d say we’ve had one of the greatest day’s selling in Perth Yearling Sale history. The confidence in the local racing industry was shown here today. There’s great prize money, great incentives and they’ve come here to buy horses." Book Two of the 2018 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale commences at 11am (WA time) today.
