Brisbane Target for Prom Queen

Wednesday, 21st February 2018

The Queensland winter carnival remains firmly on the agenda for classy Kiwi filly Prom Queen, reports NZ Racing Desk. "She's fine and she'll likely kick off in mid-April," co-trainer Kenny Rae said. "There's a race at Te Rapa for her and a week later one at Doomben, but we'll give her a trial first and take it from there." Prom Queen (Super Easy-Finishing School, by Royal Academy) has stamped herself as one of the best fillies in New Zealand winning 8 of her 11 starts, including brilliant wins in the Gr3 Northland Breeders Stakes (1200m) and Gr3 John Grigg Stakes (1400m). However, she has disappointed at her two most recent outings finishing 9th and 4th in the New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m) & Gr3 Bonecrusher Stakes (1400m) respectively. "She had four or five weeks off and come back a bit bigger and stronger," Rae said.
