Endean Rose Sold To Australia

Friday, 23rd February 2018

Group One performed Kiwi mare Endean Rose has been sold to Australian interests, reports NZ Racing Desk. Endean Rose, who was placed in last year's Gr1 Livamol Classic (2040m) at Hawke's Bay, was set to run in tomorrow's Listed Kaimai Stakes (2000m) at Matamata but has consequently been withdrawn from the race. "We never thought of her as an out-and-out champion but she's outdone herself," said Rotorua trainer Iain Kennedy, who raced Endean Rose with Andrew Burton and Linda Hunt. "We're happy with what we've achieved with her. It's a bittersweet thing selling her but sometimes it's just one of those things you have to do." Kennedy said the 7YOs new owners had indicated she could race in Australia in the autumn but the primary reason for her purchase was as a broodmare. Endean Rose (Savabeel-Pretoria, by Carnegie) boasts an attractive page that includes Australian & New Zealand Oaks winner Domino, New Zealand 2,000 Guineas winner Hero,  Gr2 Rich Hill Mile winner La Etoile, Gr2 Schillaci Stakes winner Halibery and Listed winner Gimmick, dam of Gr1 TJ Smith Classic (now JJ Atkins Stakes) winner Linky Dink.
