At Moonee Valley in Melbourne, Coolmore's 2YO Triple Crown-winning Champion stallion Pierro (Lonhro-Miss Right Note, by Daylami) added a Group race success when 3YO Australian-bred filly Tulip (Pierro-Musidora, by Rock of Gibraltar) landed her first win in nearly 12 months when posting a strong performance in the $150,000 Gr3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies, defeating True Excelsior & Seannie. A $400,000 purchase from the draft of Curraghmore at the 2016 NZB National Yearling Sale, Tulip improved her record to 2 wins (including the Gr3 ATC Magic Night Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 ATC Golden Slipper) from 12 starts for $941,625 in earnings. Tulip is out of Gr3 winner Musidora (Rock Of Gibraltar), whose dam Nice Dancing is a half-sister to the dam of Arrowfield's Gr1 Golden Slipper winner & former champion Australian sire Flying Spur. This is the family of influential blue hen Fanfreluche ancestress of former champion Australian sire Encosta de Lago and Coolmore stallion Holy Roman Emperor.
