Russian Confirms Stud Appeal

Tuesday, 27th February 2018

The connections of top-class sprinter Russian Revolution say a decision about his immediate future will be made soon. Raced by Newgate Farm and China Horse Club, the son of Snitzel and Ballet d'Amour (by Stravinsky) doubled his Gr1 tally with a typically brave win in the $500,000 Gr1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday. Henry Field, whose Newgate Farm is a major shareholder in the entire, was naturally delighted with the win particularly given the 4YO will commence stud duties at the Hunter Valley farm this spring. "He is a remarkable racehorse...blistering speed," Field said. "There are not exactly a heap of those 1000m, 1100m Group Ones and to win both the The Galaxy and now the Oakleigh, is really special. A lot of good stallions have won those races: Snippets won them both, while you also have Bletchingly, Luskin Star, Snitzel, Fastnet Rock and Starspangledbanner up on the honour board." China Horse Club Bloodstock & Racing Manager, Michael Wallace, said a decision on Russian Revolution’s immediate racing future would be made in the next few days. "It was a brilliant performance and we’ll sit down with Peter and Paul [Snowden] and the other partners and see where he goes from here," Wallace said. "One way or another he’ll be heading to Newgate this spring."
