Gr1 Winning Mare Retired

Wednesday, 28th February 2018

Gr1 winning sprinter Sheidel has been retired. The decision to call time on the 6YOs racing career came after she finished a disappointing 16th of 18 behind Russian Revolution in last weekend's Gr1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. Trained by David & Ben Hayes & Tom Dabernig, the former West Australian-trained Sheidel won 15 of her 35 starts for $1,699,450 in earnings. Her biggest win was in the 2017 Gr1 Oakleigh Plate where she defeated Faatinah and Extreme Choice. Owned by Robert Crabtree's Dorrington Farm, Sheidel (Holy Roman Emperor-Laventour, by Metal Storm) will visit Woodside Park's high profile stallion Written Tycoon in the spring. Lindsay Park Racing tweeted yesterday morning: "Gr1 winner Sheidel will retire  to Rob & Sylvie Crabtree's Dorrington Farm. The $1.7 million earner has a date with Written Tycoon this Spring."
