Russian Revolution Retired

Wednesday, 28th February 2018

Dual Group 1-winning sprinter Russian Revolution has been retired to stud. Raced by Newgate Farm and China Horse Club, the son of Snitzel doubled his Gr1 tally with a typically brave win in last weekend's Gr1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield. He retires with the excellent record of 7 wins from 11 starts and over $1.2 million in prize money. His other top-flight win was in the 2017 Gr1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill. From the winning Stravinsky mare Ballet d'Amour, Russian Revolution is a direct descendant of celebrated blue hen Fanfreluche, ancestress of former champion Australian sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur, and Coolmore stallion Holy Roman Emperor. "Russian Revolution has nothing more to prove and the owners have elected to retire him on a winning note," co-trainer Peter Snowden said. "He's absolutely one of the quickest horses we have ever trained." Russian Revolution will stand at Newgate Farm in the Hunter Valley this spring. A service fee is yet to be announced.
