In Australia, freshman sire Annenkov (Danehill-Agathe, by Manila) will make his stud debut in 2010 at Bathurst-based Allandale Park Thoroughbreds. Twice Gr3-placed in France, Irish-bred Annenkov was imported to Australia by Simon O'Donnell & Terry Henderson's OTI Racing. Following his victory in the Listed Emirates Airlines Plate (1800m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day in 2008, Annenkov was campaigned during the Perth Summer Carnival where he finished 3rd in the Gr1 Railway Stakes (1600m), 4th in the Gr1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) & runner-up in the Gr2 C.B.Cox Stakes (2100m). A full-brother to multiple Gr1-winners Aquarellista & Atriste Royal, out of a Gr1-placed half-sister to Gr1 Breeders Cup Classic winner Arcangues, Annenkov retires with 5 wins & 9 placings for $639,019 earnings. One of the last sons of Danehill to go to stud, he will stand for $4,400.

Inglis Great Southern Weanling 2: $110,000 Lonhro Colt
Lot 69 (Lonhro-Iris In The Glen, by Perugino) topped Day-1 of the Great Southern Weanling Sale when knocked down to Queensland's Boomer Bloodstock for $110,000. Consigned by Glenwood, the colt is out of a 5-time winning half-sister to triple Group-winner Zazzman who finished 3rd in the Gr1 Melbourne Cup. The grandam is a half-sister to South African Gr1 winner and NSW Allandale Park Thoroughbreds stallion Timber Trader.

Foxhound Adds US Gr2
Allandale Park Thoroughbreds stallion Foxhound (Danzig-Lassie Dear, by Buckpasser) added a US group success when daughter Foxysox (Foxhound-Triple Tricks, by Royal Academy) overcame concerns she wouldn't stay in winning the Gr2 Santa Barbara Handicap (10 furlongs) at Santa Anita on turf. According to bloodhorse.com, "Foxysox grabbed the lead from pacesetting Forest Melody mid-stretch, gradually extending her narrow advantage to nearly a length, then held on for dear life in the final strides to nose the unlucky Black Mamba at the wire". English-bred Foxysox now has 6 wins from 20 starts and earnings of US$596,718. Kiwi-bred runner-up Black Mamba (Black Minnaloushe-Sneetch, by Grosvenor) now has 5 consecutive US Gr2 runner-ups.

King Rex Wins Ladies Day Cup
Bathurst-based Allandale Park Thoroughbreds stallion Carry The Crown (Vice Regent-Tiffany Tam, by Tentam) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding King Rex (Carry The Crown-Vanity Miss, by Tattenham) prevailed in 3-way photo-finish to yesterday's $75,000 Listed Ladies Day Cup (1300m) at Hawkesbury in NSW. King Rex (ridden by Michael Cahill for trainer Stephen Hood) won by a nose from top-weighted 9YO gelding Mustard (Vettori-Altezza, by Rigoletto) with a further short-neck to 7YO gelding Mr Aristos (Danewin-Princess Yeats, by Yeats). King Rex (a bargain $3,575 yearling at the 2002 Peter Milling Dubbo Sale) now has 10 wins (also including the 2005 Listed Ramornie Handicap over 1200m at Grafton) & 12 placings (including the Listed Civic Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill in May) from 39 starts for $358,600 earnings.

Arravale Wins US Gr1 Del Mar Oaks
Just hours later on the other side of the continent, Arravale (Arch-Kalosca, by Kaldoun) made it twin Gr1 triumphs for her sire with a 1.5-lengths victory along the rail in the US$400,000 Gr1 Del Mar Oaks (9 furlongs on turf) for 3YO fillies in California. Arravale (ridden by Jose Valdivia for trainer Macdonald Benson) defeated Foxysox (Foxhound-Triple Tricks, by Royal Academy) & Soothsay (Mujadil-Second Omen, by Rainbow Quest). Chatswood's Invincible Spirit On Song
Victoria's Chatswood Stud celebrated over the weekend when 2YO filly Bahama Mama scored comfortably in Sandown's Listed Dragon Stakes (5 furlongs). The daughter of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris), who is the leading 1st season sire in the UK, is named after an exotic cocktail. Invincible Spirit's 2006 fee is $11,000. Placed in the event was Scented Present, a colt by Foxhound (Danzig-Lassie Dear, by Buckpasser). Foxhound is standing his 2nd season at NSW's Allandale Park Thoroughbreds in 2006 for $8,800.

Foxhound Relocates To NSW
Impeccably bred stallion Foxhound (Danzig--Lassie Dear, by Buckpasser) has relocated from SA's Lakewood Stud to NSW's Allandale Park Thoroughbreds for the 2005 breeding season. Foxhound's owner Michael Carroll said he was delighted Foxhound would be joining the much respected Todd family's Bathurst-based Allandale property. Foxhound, a stakes-winning member of one of the US turf's most illustrious families, has established an imposing international record, siring 17 individual stakes-winners & responsible for an 81% winners-to-runners ratio from his starters in France, US, Canada, Italy, South Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, Chile & Japan. Foxhound stands for $8,800.
