Arrowfield Freshman All American Shuttle To US
announced Gr1-winning & dual Gr1-placed 5YO freshman sire All American (Red Ransom-Milva, by Strawberry Road) will shuttle to Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky for the 2011 northern hemisphere breeding season. Gainesway Owner Graham Beck Dies At 80
South African winemaker & leading international breeder Graham Beck, who bought major Kentucky stud Gainesway Farm in 1989, has died in London overnight at age 80, reported Bloomberg News. Under the Beck family’s ownership, Gainesway “has built on the foundation established by the late John Gaines (an early adapter of the stallion station concept) & in addition to the original Gainesway, the farm now totals more than 1500 acres, including the former Greentree & Whitney farms,” noted bloodhorse.com. Exciting Australian-bred 2YO colt Elzaam (Redoute's Choice-Mambo In Freeport, by Kingmambo) now looks near certain to start in the Gr2 July Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket in England next Thursday (July 8). That follows the news that the potential-laden colt pleased connections during his Wednesday morning gallop at Newmarket. According to racingpost.com, trainer Michael Jarvis commented after the gallop: "After working well, the plan is to go for the July Stakes with the owner's [Hamdan Al Maktoum] agreement."
