On the Australian track, Glenlogan Park Stud's 4-time Gr1-winning sire Show A Heart (Brave Warrior-Miss Sandman, by Regal Advice) added a Gr1 triumph black-type when his colt Toorak Toff (Show A Heart-Orong, by Grand Lodge) notched his 2nd successive stakes victory in a fortnight (after returning from a 16-weeks spell) when he gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) for 3YOs at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Toorak Toff (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Rick Hore-Lacy) scored by a half-neck from fellow colt Squamosa (Not A Single Doubt-Class Success, by Success Express) with a further short-neck to another colt Ilovethiscity (Magic Albert-Kensington Rose, by Kenfair). 1st Winner For US Freshman Sire A.P.Warrior
US multiple Gr2-winning 7YO freshman sire A.P.Warrior (A.P.Indy-Warrior Queen, by Quiet American) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly A.P.Song (A.P.Warrior-Songandaflash, by Songandaprayer) scored by 6-lengths over 4.5 furlongs at Philadelphia Park for trainer Frank Petrozzo. A.P.Warrior (who has 31 2YOs in his 1st-crop) stood the 2010 season for US$10,000 at Stonewall Farm Stallions in Kentucky; but Richard & Audrey Haisfield's Stonewall Farm "will cease operations in Kentucky & move 5 stallions (including A.P.Warrior) to Florida's Stonewall Farm Ocala next year," noted thoroughbredtimes.com. Former Victorian shuttler Mr Greeley (Gone West-Long Legend, by Reviewer) added a US graded-stakes success when Stonestreet Stables colt Kensei (Mr Greeley-Private Feeling, by Belong To Me) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the US$500,000 Gr2 Jim Dandy Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YOs at Saratoga. Payback Time For Owners
Queensland based Pierce Arrow is turning out to be a marvellous investment for his new owners. As a stallion he has now sired two metropolitan winners from his debut crop - Merry Pierce and Bold Red. Bad As I Wanna Be is yet another winner for the emerging stallion who is a full-brother to the ill-fated star stallion Brave Warrior. Another full sibling is Lifetime Story, the dam of triple Gr1 winner Shamekha. The three winners thus far are from just nine runners. Pierce Arrow (Cossack Warrior-Nothing To Do, by Nijinsky) had just 17 live foals from this debut crop. He stands for $2,200 at Delta Pines Stud this year.
