Tamworth Stallion Tender A Strong Success
The annual Tamworth Jockey Club Stallion Tender (which closed on July 10) has been hailed an unprecedented success. Spokesperson for the Tender, Rod Dugan, noted that, "From the lower fee stallions right through to the higher end of our list we have not previously had the number of tenders lodged to the stallions. This has been across the list not just on a few higher profile horses. Tenders have been successful from Darwin to Melbourne and even from a person working in India and having mares in NSW." Proceeds of the tender help fund the Breeders Gift fillies and mares race the Tamworth Jockey Club runs in February. Among the top echelon of stallions in this year's scheme are Ferocity, Monashee Mountain, Hidden Dragon, Greenwood Lake, War Trace, Southern Image, Benicio, Danasinga, Alert, Lucky Owners, Beautiful Crown, Desert King, Written Tycoon, Primus & Golden Snake. Patinack Farm announced the acquisition of Swettenham Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley. Patinack chairman Nathan Tinkler commented: "This property enjoys a well deserved reputation for rearing champions & we are looking forward to continuing this tradition.
