Quality Yearlings At A New Venue
Perth has an exciting new sales venue for 2019

The 2019 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale will be the first held at the new Magic Millions Swan Valley complex. Held on 18 and 19 February, this new venue promises to be a first class thoroughbred sales venue. Local breeders have provided Magic Millions with an excellent catalogue of 310 yearlings for the new complex.

The Perth Yearling Sale has always been a source of quality winners for buyers who venture west in search of a good horse. It is the type of sale where good judges can thrive, concentrating on the athletes on offer with book one of the 2018 sale averaging just under $64,000, and book two averaging $26,000. Already, the 2017 sale (currently 3YOs) has produced five stakes-winners, led by Gr2 MVRC Bill Stutt Stakes winner Leonardo da Hinchi (Hinchinbrook), Gr2 WATC Karrakatta Plate winner Valour Road (Frost Giant), Gr3 WATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Lordhelpmerun (Playing God), and Gr3 ATC Kindergarten Stakes winner Paquirri (I Am Invincible).

Gr1 winners sold at recent Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales include Gr1 William Reid Stakes winner Silent Sedition (War Chant) who sold for just $45,000 and has earned over a million dollars in her seven wins to date. $31,000 Perth Yearling Sale graduate Great Shot (Magnus) won the 2017 Gr1 WATC Railway Stakes over a mile and has earned $1.39 million in his eight wins to date.

The people’s champion, Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars), was passed through the ring, and bought afterwards for only $20,000. His five Gr1 victories, and sixteen race wins, netted him nearly four million dollars. And other recent Gr1-winning graduates include Scenic Shot, Luckygray, Playing God, Moment of Change, while Boom Time was passed in at this sale.

The 2019 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale catalogue includes 310 yearlings by 76 sires, eight of which are first season sires. Seventeen yearlings are out of stakes-winning mares, while there are also half, three quarter or full relations to group winners including Elite Belle, Playing God, Eagle Way, Motion Pictures, Agent Pippa, Dainty Tess, Lucy Mae, Salsonic, Samovare, Hobart Jones, Vampi Lass, Art Series, Miss Admiration, Variation, Chantski and Missy Longstocking. 90% of yearlings catalogued are eligible for either the Westspeed Platinum or standard Westspeed scheme, while 69 lots are BOBS eligible and all lots offered are eligible to be paid up for the $11 million plus Magic Millions Race Series.
