Catkins' half-brother is Lot 570

Amarina Farm is bringing a draft of 18 yearlings to the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, and perhaps there will be another Catkins among them. Aside from tough 16 race Gr2 winner and people’s favourite Catkins, Amarina Farm has sold Gr1 winner Super Cool and stakes winner Testamezzo out of their Gold Coast drafts.

Six of their draft are by big name proven sires, including Lot 100, a colt by Fastnet Rock from a Johannesburg daughter of Gr2 winner Golden Reef. This is a strong USA family. More than Ready is the sire of Lot 315, the first foal of Listed winner Hussousa, who is a full-sister to Gr1-placed Sister Souss. Golden Slipper winner and sire, Stratum, has Lot 557, a colt who is a full-brother to Gr3 winner Va Pensiero, as well as Lot 435, a filly who is the second foal of a winning half-sister to Gr2 winner Bird of Fire. Snitzel is represented here by Lot 704, a colt out of stakes-placed Very Cherry; while boom sire I Am Invincible has Lot 299, a filly from the family of Shooting to Win and Deep Field.

Another seven yearlings from Amarina Farm are by stallions whose oldest Australian foals are 2YOs. Sepoy has two in this draft and Lot 447 is a filly out of Gr2 winner Moccasin Bend; while Lot 542 is bred for early speed as a son of 2YO winner Riptide who is closely related to Gr2 Silver Slipper winner Headwater. Lot 570 should attract plenty of attention as the half-brother to Catkins, by Dubawi’s won Poet’s Voice. Smart Missile already has a stakes winner on the board, and has Lot 284 here, a colt out of Gr1-placed Hamsa from a good American family. Master of Design was a million dollar yearling turned Gr1 winner, and his colt, Lot 94, is a half brother to Gr2 winner Fontein Ruby. The other second season sire in this draft is Love Conquers All with Lot 103 and Lot 846.
