Newgate Farm have released the fees for their fourteen-strong stallion line up for the 2023 breeding season via their Twitter feed. Leading the way is dual Gr1 winner Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) who remains at $275,000 and now has three Group 1-winning progeny from only 66 runners, while Russian Revolution (Snitzel) gets a boost to $88,000 thanks to a stellar season where he has left group winners Communist, Revolutionary Miss, Red Resistance, and Libertad. Newgate Farm sadly announced the retirement of Deep Field (Northern Meteor-Listen Here, by Encosta de Lago) after a virus resulted in a loss of fertility for the young stallion. The rising 13YO retires with five crops of racing age with 24 stakes winners. Three newcomers have been announced for 2023 comprising Gr1 WS Cox Plate winner State of Rest (Starspangledbanner) leading the pack at $44,000. A winner at two, a dual Gr1 winner at three, and a dual Gr1 winner at four, State of Rest won in five different countries against the world’s best. Gr1 Golden Rose winner In The Congo (Snitzel) was a 2YO winner who engaged in battle with Anamoe at three and is considered by co-trainer Adrian Bott to be the best 3YO sprinter he has trained. The family’s value was plain to see when his The Autumn Sun half-sister topped the recent Inglis Easter Sale at $1.8 million. Meanwhile dual Gr1 winner Artorius will head back to Royal Ascot before retiring at a fee of $27,500 after a stellar career that also included multiple other Group 1 efforts.
