Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock Australia has joined forces with Queensland’s Telemon Stud to launch the stud career of gun 2YO colt Red Resistance (Russian Revolution-Heatherly, by Lonhro). An elite juvenile, Red Resistance was scratched the morning of the 2023 Golden Slipper due to illness when a leading contender. At the time, multiple Golden Slipper winning trainer Adrian Bott commented, “We’re devastated not to be able to run him. We know what it takes to win a Slipper and this colt was right up to the mark.” Steve O Connor from Go Bloodstock explained the decision to partner with Queensland farm Telemon: ‘In standing Red Resistance, Sir Owen was adamant he wanted to give our colt the best opportunity with a focus on his elite 2YO speed. Telemon is a perfect fit. The farm has an illustrious honour roll and our partnership places Red Resistance in a Queensland market and mare population focused on 2YO speed…” Red Resistance competed with the very best of his generation from his debut where he lowered the colours of Gr3 Magic Night winner Steel City. At his next appearance, he announced himself as a leading Golden Slipper chance in winning the Gr3 Canonbury Stakes, leading home previously undefeated colt King’s Gambit (Gr2 Roman Consul winner and Gr1 Golden Slipper 3rd: to Stud in 2024 @ $22,000) as well as eventual Slipper Winner Shinzo (to stud in 2024 @ $55,000). Tulloch Lodge set their star colt on the same path as their previous Slipper winners, giving him a five week break into the Gr2 Todman Stakes. In that race, Red Resistance lost no admirers as he was worn down late by Gr1 Newmarket Handicap winner and Golden Slipper runner-up, Cylinder (to stud in 2024 @ $44,000). Out of dual Gr1-placed Group 2 winner Heatherly, Red Resistance is a standout and an imposing type. A homebred for elite breeder Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, he was born at Newgate and rated so highly by the farm that Newgate purchased a share in him when a yearling. Telemon Stud principal Dan Fletcher enthused, “The big thing for us is what he brings as a type. It’s not easy for a colt to stand out when you line them up against the elite of the elites that populate the best farms in the country, but this bloke does. He’s an incredibly attractive horse and we’re privileged to have him.” Red Resistance will stand for $11,000 GST inclusive, on Live Foal Terms, with a limited number of Lifetime Breeding Rights available. It is anticipated these breeding rights will be sought after and Telemon encourages breeders to contact the stud quickly to avoid disappointment.
