  • Lifeline for Stallion Akeed Mofeed

    Wednesday, 24th July 2024

Group 1-winning Dubawi sire-son Akeed Mofeed will continue his stud career in South Australia after Rosden Park's Ros Day provided the Group 1 winner with a new opportunity for the 2024 season, reports racing.com. Previously standing at Goldin Farms and Cornerstone Stud in SA, the son of Dubawi had been seeking a new home after Cornerstone shifted focus away from stallions to concentrate on sale consignment. Despite his proven record, including four individual stakes winners since 2019, Akeed Mofeed has covered small numbers of mares in recent years—two in 2021, eight in 2022, and four in 2023. Among his notable recent progeny are Group 3 winner The Amazonian and Listed winner Indispensable. Standing for $2,200, Akeed Mofeed will be part of Rosden Park’s roster alongside Barood, a brother to Starspangledbanner, who is also priced at $2,200 and has 2YOs as his oldest progeny. Although Day hadn’t initially planned to add another stallion, she highlighted the importance of offering local breeders more options to benefit from the Racing Rewards SA breeding and racing incentive scheme. "Ensuring he has the chance to serve mares was crucial for his owners," Day said. "He has done well enough to attract some South Australian mares."
