The Australian Turf Club's Kia Friday Night Racing Season kicks off this week at Canterbury Park, marking the first of 10 meetings across spring and summer, reports racingnsw.com.au. With free entry, family entertainment, and diverse food stalls, it's a lively experience for all. Partnering with Quayclean, a leading Australian firm in cleaning, hygiene, and waste management, the ATC is set to support charities through the Quayclean Night Rider Series. Twelve of Sydney's top jockeys, each linked to a community group or charity, will compete over 10 meetings, earning points—3 for a win, 2 for second, and 1 for third. The highest scorers by the final meeting on February 28, 2025, will secure donations for their causes: $10,000 for the leading rider, $5,000 for second, $3,500 for third, and $2,000 for each remaining rider. The $36,500 prize pool is funded by the ATC and Quayclean. On Schweppes Opening Night this Friday, a draw will pair each jockey with their charity. The lineup includes top jockeys like James McDonald, Nash Rawiller, and Rachel King, with meet-and-greet opportunities for fans each week. Nevesh Ramdhani, ATC's Head of Racing and Wagering, said, "The stars of our sport will engage with the community and raise funds for great causes. Free entry, entertainment, and a vibrant food market make this a Sydney racing experience like no other." The eight-race event begins at 6 pm, with gates opening at 5 pm.
