Highly accomplished Savabeel mare Atishu, one of Australasia’s standout racemares, is set to draw considerable attention when she goes under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast this May. A prime contender for this Saturday’s $2.5 million Gr1 Australian Cup, Atishu’s career highlights already include three Group 1 victories and earnings exceeding $5.7 million. Her consistent performances at the top level have cemented her reputation among racing enthusiasts and her ownership group, Go Racing. “She’s taken us on a fantastic ride,” Go Racing’s Albert Bosma said. “She’s a very special horse. From day one she showed she was going to have an exciting future. She was able to run amazing sectionals in New Zealand from the outset.” Atishu’s early success included four consecutive wins in New Zealand before making a powerful Australian debut with a first-up win in Sydney, followed by a Gr3 Bill Ritchie Stakes victory just two starts later. Her Group 1 triumphs in both Sydney and Melbourne against elite competitors like Pride of Jenni, Duais, Zaaki, Prowess, Amelia’s Jewel, Montefilia, Zardozi, Orchestral, Alcohol Free, and West Wind Blows have secured her place as one of her generation’s finest mares. “She’s one of those mares that has kept getting better and better and continues to race so well at the highest level. Atishu was a lovely yearling. Her full sister the year before sold for $875,000, and Atishu was very similar looking. She has developed into a lovely looking mare, with great conformation and a tremendous will to win.” The sale will be a bittersweet moment for her connections. “There will be mixed emotions for sure. She has provided us with so many thrills. It will be sad to see her leave the team, but we are also excited about what the future will hold for her and being able to see what she can produce.” Atishu will be joined by another Go Racing star, Diss is Dramatic, a triple Group winner in New Zealand, including the Gr2 Japan Trophy, who is also expected to attract global interest from breeders.
