  • No Change to 2025 Cambridge Stud Roster

    Tuesday, 22nd April 2025

Cambridge Stud have confirmed their 2025 stallion roster, with their rising star Sword Of State (Snitzel) receiving a notable fee increase following strong results in the sales ring, according to loveracing.nz. His first yearlings proved hugely very popular – averaging over $200,000 and topping out at $540,000, prompting his fee to rise to $20,000 + GST. “Sword Of State has provided some fantastic results for his supporters this year,” said Cambridge Stud’s Scott Calder. “Many of the best trainers and agents have put their faith in his progeny, which bodes very well for his future.” Calder added the farm is “very bullish” about what’s to come, with more high-quality stock on the way. Chaldean returns for a second southern season, again at $35,000 + GST. The Frankel entire served a select book last year, with 59 percent of mares being black type performers or producers. “Probabeel is one of four Group 1 winners in foal to him,” Calder said, also pointing to mares that produced Asterix, Ceolwulf, El Castello, Pinarello and Signify. He said Chaldean’s juvenile form – headlined by the Champagne Stakes/Dewhurst double – makes him especially attractive to breeders in Australasia. Popular Wootton Bassett sire-son Almanzor remains at $30,000 + GST after another big season at both stud and the track. He covered 145 mares in 2024 and had several stakes winners this season including Gr2 Auckland Cup hero Trav, as well as Rise At Dawn, Positivity, Mehzebeen and Keeneland. “His progeny are regularly seen on the biggest racedays across Australia and New Zealand,” said Calder. “He continues to deliver commercially and competitively.” Hello Youmzain Kodiac), who tops the first season sire lists in New Zealand and led the freshman sires in France, stays at $30,000 + GST. “He’s trending the same way down here,” Calder revealed, citing five recent trial winners and the promise shown by their own filly Remala. Meanwhile, Savabeel Group 1 winner Embellish remains at a value fee of $5,000 + GST, with his best crop about to turn three. Stakes winners Luberon, What You Wish For and Hitabell lead his early runners, giving Cambridge cause for optimism. “We’ve seen what Embellish can do firsthand,” Calder said. “We expect even more next season.”
