  • Ole Kirk Headlines Vinery’s 2025 Sire Roster

    Wednesday, 23rd April 2025

Vinery Stud has revealed its 2025 stallion roster, showcasing a powerful mix of elite performers and emerging stars, with Ole Kirk stepping into the spotlight after a sensational freshman season at stud. He heads the line-up at an increased service fee of $99,000 inc.GST, reflecting strong demand following his progeny’s striking racetrack debut and their appeal in the sale ring. With 10 individual 2YO winners and three stakes performers from just 17 runners, Ole Kirk has wasted no time establishing himself among the elite. His first-crop progeny includes Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner O’ Ole, Gr3 Breeders’ Plate victor King Kirk, and Listed Moonee Valley Pearl winner Prestige Forever. He leads the First Season Sires’ Table across every key metric and sits second only to Snitzel on the 2YO Sires’ Table by earnings and winners. "Ole Kirk, due to demand, has gone up in fee, he looks to be exceptional,” said Vinery General Manager Peter Orton. “He has a perfect pedigree and offers a complete outcross for breeders throughout the heavy presence of Danehill in most pedigrees." Orton added, “The way Ole Kirk raced, we are looking to his late 2YOs and Spring 3YOs to dominate, what he has done to date is a bonus and I think the best is yet to come.” Exceedance stays at $33,000 inc. GST after covering a full book of 181 mares in 2024. His first crop already boasts four stakes winners, led by Listed-winning Group 1 performer Swiftfalcon and promising filly Dance To The Boom. His 2025 yearlings have sold for as much as $320,000. Hawaii Five Oh holds at $16,500 inc. GST in his second season, having covered a full book in 2024. Vinery is especially optimistic about his debut foals, being the only son of Champion Sire I Am Invincible to stand in this bracket. Star Turn, reduced to $16,500 inc. GST, remains popular thanks to yearlings averaging six times his fee, top sellers reaching $350,000, and ongoing success in Hong Kong and Australia, including standout filly Alsephina and Stakes winner Prairie Flower. All Too Hard, now at $27,500 inc. GST, continues to rank as one of the best value sires under $50k. On track for his sixth Top 10 Sires finish in seven seasons, he adds further polish with the Doncaster Mile-winning Stefi Magnetica, now a multiple Group 1 winner. His 2025 yearlings have fetched up to $350,000. Headwater, at $6,600 inc. GST, offers unbeatable value with 74 individual winners already this season and consistent black-type performers including London’s Image and million-dollar earners like Jamaea and Straight Acer. After 17 productive seasons at stud, Casino Prince will retire in 2025. With 21 Stakes winners, two Group 1 heroes and over $66 million in progeny earnings, he’ll enjoy retirement at Vinery alongside fellow stalwart Testa Rossa. Payment on live foal.
