Taken out last year by the now retired Darley stallion Broadsiding (Too Darn Hot) enroute to his victory in the Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) at his following start, Saturday's $1m G2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) has assembled a large field of 18 runners (plus three emergencies). Although beaten last start when resuming in the Gr2 Spirit of Boom Classic (1200m) at Doomben behind the dual stakes winner Cool Archie (Cool Aza Beel-Aware, by Tale of the Cat), who he will once again meet here, the Hawkes Racing-trained Gallo Nero (Wootton Bassett-Chianti, by I Am Invincible) looks capable of recording his first black type victory with the step up to 1400m on Saturday. Bred by South Australia's Kambula Stud before consigned at the Magic Millions yearling sale through the draft of Glenbeigh Farm, the imposing colt is yet to finish further back than fourth in all his four starts includes black type efforts at his last two efforts. Chasing three straight stakes victories, Cool Archie is sure to run another quality race, as will the Spirit Of Boom third placed Grafterburners (Graff-Coralina, by Dylan Thomas), who was less than a half-length from the winner last start. Unbeaten in his two starts to date, the Michael Freedman trained Aerodome (Ole Kirk-She Shao Fly, by Epaulette) has done nothing wrong to date and should not be discounted while another with a chance appears to be Fabulantes (Star Turn-Funtantes, by Easy Rocking) who comes off a last start third behind Beadman (Snitzel) at the Gold Coast. Although beaten more than ten lengths, he was two lengths off the second horse Sunrays (Hellbent) who came out last weekend to record Listed success.
