  • Classy Beadman Resumes in Heritage

    Friday, 26th September 2025

With a logical target of the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes down the Flemington straight on November 1, the Peter Snowden trained Beadman (Snitzel-Iffranesia, by Iffraaj) resumes on Saturday in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at Randwick. Not seen since winning the Gr3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) on a Heavy 8 rated track by a little over eight lengths (see below), the colt was put away at that stage with spring riches in mind. Given two trials in readiness for Saturday, by no means was he electric in those two efforts, but connections were happy. "It was a good trial," said his trainer Peter Snowden when speaking to racing.com. "It was his second trial back, he's been in work for quite a while and the preparation we've got, most of his races are not until October, November, so there's been no rush with him." With two of the last four winners, Home Affairs (I Am Invincible) and Ozzmosis (Zoustar) both winning the Heritage Stakes before winning the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes two starts later, and now at stud, the form through Saturday's race should be watched with interest moving forward. Snowden's last winner of the race was five years back with Wild Ruler (Snitzel) with that colt going on to finish third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (for similar connections to Beadman), before winning the Gr1 Moir Stakes as a 4yo before retiring to Newgate Farm. Another who is being aimed towards the Coolmore Stud Stakes is the Michael Freedman trained Marhoona (Snitzel-Salma, by Encosta de Lago) who we last saw on race day when winning the Gr1 Golden Slipper last season. With two trials under her belt, the filly accepted to resume last Saturday in the Gr2 The Shorts, but connections pulled the pin when the race came up very strong, and indicated they felt the Heritage Stakes would be an easier option.
