  • Tempted Needs to Match Forensics in Rose

    Friday, 26th September 2025

With no filly winning the Golden Rose at its current Gr1 standing, with the Peter Snowden-trained Forensics (Flying Spur) winning the race way back in 2008 when run at Group 2 level, the Ciaron Maher trained Tempted (Street Boss-Calliope, by Exceed And Excel) tackles eight colts all looking to secure a home at stud in the not too distance future. If Tempted takes natural improvement from her impressive Gr2 Run To The Rose (1200m) victory over fellow Godolphin owned galloper Beiwacht (Bivouac-Metastasio, by Street Cry), then barring bad luck, those that finished behind her that day may struggle to make up the necessary ground to defeat her again. If that is the case, then that rules out all bar two in the field, with both Sixties (Flying Artie-Gracie's Lass, by Redoute's Choice) and Autumn Boy (The Autumn Sun-Rosegarden, by Savabeel) having form at 1400m, running one-two in the Gr3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) last time out. Second up from a spell last time in, like he will be on Saturday, Autumn Boy looked very impressive when winning at Listed level during the Brisbane Winter Carnival by just shy of two lengths, and based on that he looks the leading chance at toppling Tempted. In what would be a brilliant result for Coolmore Stud after the tragic news during the week of the passing of their world-class sire Wootton Bassett, if the talented Wodeton (Wootton Bassett-Fiera Vista, by Exceed And Excel) could finally deliver on the ability he continues to show and secure his first his black type win off the back of six consecutive second, third and fourth placed efforts at black type level.
